You might consider importing. Gamespot reported Japanese retailers selling the 360 for as little as $150 USD after a disappointing launch in japan. I don't know what that would come to with shipping, but you might get a better deal.

Once again it looks bad for MSFT's gaming console in japan.

Befriend someone who is from japan and get their family (who is still back in japan) to send you one.
